A battery with no panels
The two Powerwall 3 packages are sold with or without solar, from £6,350. Both Duracell packages are priced for an installation alongside solar panels.
Big evenings, an EV or a heat pump
Size the battery to what your home uses between sunset and sunrise. The 27 kWh and 32 kWh packages suit higher use; your design call works it out from your bills.

Estimated year-one benefit on the model every calculator on this site runs: 12 LONGi panels (6.36 kWp), a home using 2,700 kWh a year, 925 kWh per kWp (the average PVGIS yield across our county pages), a 12p export rate and off-peak charging at 8.5p. A bigger battery earns its keep in a home that uses more, or runs an EV or a heat pump. Run it for your own spend.
How solar and a battery work together
Make it at midday, use it at teatime
Panels generate most around the middle of the day. Most homes use most in the evening. The battery is what moves your own energy across that gap.
It stores your solar. Instead of exporting at a few pence and buying back at the 26.32p capped rate, the battery runs the home after dark.
It buys off-peak. On a smart tariff it tops up overnight at the cheap rate and covers the expensive evening hours.
It can open better export rates. Some of the strongest export rates are reserved for homes with solar and a battery; our export rates page names them and the conditions.

The things everyone asks
What does the free design call involve?
A 30-minute video call with Niall or Vince, our residential energy consultants, or a phone call if you prefer. Your roof on screen, your usage talked through, and the kit and the price that fit. Nobody visits your home, and nothing is booked until you say so.
What do the packages cost?
Solar is £1,000 per kWp installed, so ten 530 W LONGi panels (5.30 kWp) come to £5,300. A Duracell Dura16 is £4,450 and two Dura16 units £8,900 when installed with solar. A Tesla Powerwall 3 is from £6,350 and a Powerwall 3 with an Expansion unit from £10,850, subject to survey. The design call, the survey and your written quote are free.
Who carries out the installation?
We do. Our MCS-certified, fully insured installation teams install and commission every system to the design agreed on your call, backed by our workmanship warranty and the manufacturer's product warranty. Your written quote sets out the terms before you commit to anything.
Is there VAT on solar panels and batteries?
Not at the moment. Installing solar panels and batteries on a home in Great Britain is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027, and reverts to 5% after that under current legislation. Our VAT deadline guide sets out how long a job takes from first call to switch-on.
Do I have to be with a particular energy supplier?
No. We explain how tariffs from suppliers such as OVO, Octopus Energy and E.ON Next work with solar, batteries, EVs and heat pumps, and you choose. Some of the strongest export and smart rates are reserved for the supplier's own customers, and we always tell you when that is the case.
What is MCS certification?
MCS is the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, the UK standard for small-scale renewable installations and the people who fit them. It matters for one practical reason: most export tariffs require your installation to be MCS-certified before they pay you for exported energy, and every system we install is commissioned by our MCS-certified teams, so the certificate comes as part of the job.
